Liposuction in Southern California
Procedure: Liposuction is meant to improve
body areas containing excessive amounts of exercise-resistant
fat. A tubular device, called a cannula, is inserted under
the body area's skin, and suctioned out by a vacuum-like
device at the opposing end of the cannula.
Length of Procedure: Depends on the
area being treated and volume of fat being removed
Anesthesia: General anesthesia is used
for safest, most comfortable treatment of all areas in question
In/Outpatient: Outpatient
Risks: As
with any surgery, there are certain potential risks
of liposuction. However, they are relatively
rare and should not deter a well-informed patient.
Some of these potential complications include infection,
blod clots, assymetry, numbness, and pigmenation changes.
Repeat procedures may occassionally be desired as well.
Recovery:
Back to work: Can usually return about 1 week after surgery
Exercise: More upbeat activities like exercise can usually
be resumed about 3 weeks after surgery
Fading of swelling and bruising: Most will subside within
about 3 weeks, but it may be up to 6 weeks or more after
surgery before complete disappearance
Duration of Results: Paired with a life
of exercise and a healthy diet, results can be permanent
